Sculputral wood work for architectural themes.

My specialty in construction is unique buildings and interiors based on a concept or theme.  I have done all phases of construction from design to finish combining wood, stone, tile, metal, and glass to express a theme.     I have studied alternative building techniques in over 30 countries world-wide including traditional wood frame and drywall, log, masonry, adobe, and earth-shelter.  The following are examples of my wood work done in some unique projects.

  Unique Custom Cabinetry

These photos show a design concept based on a combination of Victorian and Art Nuveau themes installed in a remodeled farmhouse in California.  All of the lines of the cabnetry, the stained glass door windows, and the entry door trim  follow the same symetry grid taken from the geometry of the room in which they are installed.

Remodeling to a theme.  This dance club in Berkeley, California was remodeled from an old gararage based on the theme of old Polish synagogues, which were all burned during WWII.  All lines used in the project were taken from the only remaining book showing pictures of these remarkable old wooden structures.

 Japanese Restaurant

This restaurant was built from the ground up on a traditional japanese theme, including the tables.  Very specific angles were used in all of the trim that do not show up in these photos.  We did joinery characteristic of old Japanese craftsmanship, including double tenons and hand planed surfaces.

Floors are 3/4"oak T&G, tables are cherry wood bordered in oak with inlaid rosewood.  Counters and benches are constructed with traditional joinery.
