"The Ascension of Mary" 32"x72" - 2011 A controversial Biblical theme interpreted for the 21st Century from the aspect of Mystic Christianity. This is a scroll. To read it, it should be viewed very large and read from the bottom up. For a deeper understanding, suggested reading, beware... these are all very difficult books requiring preliminary basic understanding of the basic tenets of Esoteric Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Kabala, ancient Mythology, and other schools of thought. A note to fundamentalist Christians.  If this offends you, you have a problem.  It is a PAINTING, not a scripture.  It is not claimed to be "truth" or intended to change your way of thinking.

Key to Interpretation:

The painting is organized in 12 horizontal sections, each representing one of the signs of the Zodiac from Aries to Pisces.  The symbolism in each of these signs represent the stages of involution and evloution of the World according to the ruling sign of each epoch of manifestation of the world from the beginning of creation.  Interpretation is based on the concept that matter is a manifestation of consciousness, not the reverse and that "mind" or "consciousness" has been present before the planet crystallized into solid form.  The term "consciousness" does NOT mean "self-consciousness", which is attained over millennium of evolution.  Consciousness in the abstract is formless and an aspect of the Supreme Being - the "Nirvana" of Eastern religions and one of the prime objects of the teachings of the great Master Christ Jesus..  Self-consciousness is that of "individuals" in their perceived separateness from the One, and is a stage of evolution.  Returning to the state of All-Consciousness, but with the added gift of Self-Consciousness is the object of evolution.

Overlapping the Zodiacal sections are the seven principle "Chakras" or "Etheric energy centers" in the body, also associated with the stages of evolution, but this time resident in the body of each individual.  The development of each Chakra over the millennium of the World corresponds to the stages of Zodiacal manifestation of the planet.  While all are now resident in the body, that was not the case over the past millions of years.  Today, most people have their identify focused on one or the other of these energy centers, which results in the dominant characteristics of their personality.  The object of meditation and of Yoga is to intentionally raise the focus of identity from the lower to the higher.  As one achieves progress in this objective, mental powers increase, control (not repression) is gained over the emotions, and eventually, what is called "clairvoyance" is gained.  "Clairvoyance" has nothing whatsoever to do wth "mind reading" or the simplified, childish claims of those selling their imaginary wisdom who are really nothing more than materialists trying to convince others they are superior beings.

The stages:

As you look at these, remember that everything overlaps, therefore the segments shown here are unintelligible unless viewed in conjunction with the adjacent segments and ultimately the whole.  These segments are only to give you an idea where each concept is centered.

Aries:

The state of the world at the time of creation.  This is below human consciousness having passed far before recorded history.  It is the time when the World was a "fire-fog", formless and made up of the pure energies of elemental fire and water.  Upon the mingling of fire and water, came precipitation of matter.  As intelligence pre-existed form, sentient life at this stage was One with the Creator, but dual in aspect, generating positive and negative polarities of the One while in manifestation.  This is the biblical story of Genesis, the "Creation" of fundamentalist Christians, and the "Big Bang" of material science.

The painting represents the feminine principle, which in our age has been subdued by the masculine principle during the process of involution.  When the feminine principle is equalized and aligned with the masculine, a new age will dawn and the entire of humanity will turn the corner to evolution.  We are now at the crux of that stage in human evolution.

Since at this stage of human involution humans were not material beings as we are now and had no individual consciousness.  The Chakras had not been evolved into the energy centers they are now.  Therefore, no Chakra is represented at this level.
 

Taurus:

This is the crystallization of pure, formless consciousness into matter, the beginning of the World as we know it and the first incarnation of human consciousness into material bodies.  The bodies of humanity did not resemble those of today at all and while taking form, there was no individual consciousness.  It is the stage of the Atlantians and Lemurians, much misinterpreted by pseudo-occultism today.  This is also the beginning of the polarity of all things material and the earliest manifestation of what is called "good and evil".  In the center the early Mary, who is Eve courts the serpent; the willful co-mingling of the masculine and feminine principles and the beginning of bringing forth life by fecundation.

The period of Adam and Eve and the beginning of what is called Planetary Karma, or in terms of science Cause and Effect and the basis of the Biblical statement that you reap what you sow.  This planetary karma is what is referred to in the Biblical passages that Christ through Jesus cleansed the world of sin.  That passage does NOT mean individuals can do "evil" and not suffer the effects of it just because they claim to "believe in"  Jesus.  It means that individuals do not have to suffer from the evils of historical proportions resident in the very matter of our bodies and the planet we live on.  Sorry fundamentalists, but "many are called, but few are chosen"; "for those who have ears to hear", and he who heeds not the commands of the Son of God have no part in salvation.  Nothing less would be unjust and the true God is just.  The justice in this is that human consciousness was not yet individualized, therefore individuals are not held to the Karma of a world in which they were not intelligent perpetrators of their own actions.

Human consciousness at this stage was unconscious, instinctive activity, incapable of differentiating itself from the world in which they were manifest.
 

Gemini:

The birth of species.  Since matter is a precipitation of consciousness, every atom of the cast off bodies of early material humans embody a non-individualized basic consciousness.  This creates an opportunity for life waves other than that of humanity to gather the atomic substance necessary to become material existences in our world.  This is done by the phenomenon of attraction and repulsion and the method by which the plant and animal kingdoms have come to be.  All animals and plants are in material fact our "younger brothers".

At this stage, human consciousness became aware of the difference between its life wave and that of the mineral, plant, and animal.  It was subconscious, non-individual, much like the lower animals of today.  Desire was the dominant element of consciousness acting through attraction and repulsion.  The highest mental function was the instinct to eat and procreate.  Here is the formation of the lowest Chakra, the Muladhara from the ancient Vedas, and the abode of the energy resident in matter itself, known in schools of Yoga as Kundalini.  This center is located in the spinal center below the genitals in the human body.

Cancr:

The beginning of individual consciousness, dominated by struggle to survive, power, lust, and a sense of separateness from all other beings or things.  With this emerging individuality the conscious of "Oneness with God" necessarily had to fade from awareness for individualization to exist.   All worldly aims and achievements start here with respect to recorded history.  This is also the stage of development of the second Chakra, the Svadhisthana of the Vedas, located in the spinal center just above the genitals.  Here lies tribal and species identification which is still dominant in lesser evolved humanity of today.  Animism was the dominant religious view, which still dominates the superstitious including many who claim to be "Christians" but neither study or understand the teachings of Christ.  Those whose identity is polarized in this Chakra are recognizable by their selfishness, greed, and insatiable desire to be dominant over others.  It is the stage where higher evolved members of humanity recognize choice between the "paths" referred to as good and evil.

Leo:

The turning point from involution to evolution in which the battle between good and evil rages at its highest point as a dying beast struggles to survive.  The time of our current society and the state of mind of the greatest majority of people in today's world.  For the less evolved the dominant characteristics are acquisition of material possessions, dominance over others, absolute convictions that their "beliefs" are facts.  For the higher evolved, altruism, sharing, and the oneness of the human family are the dominant characteristics.

Through the violent heat of battle manifest everywhere, the emotions rage with intensity.  This activates the third Chakra, the Manipura, in the area of the navel, seat of the emotions and the connection with that which is called the "Astral Body".  With activation of the Astral/emotional aspect of individuals comes vision of the elements of conscious beyond the material.  The individual begins to see themselves as more than just a body and intellectual function emerges as equal and sometimes higher importance than possession and dominance.  The choice of the path of good versus the path of evil becomes clear.
 

Virgo:

The period of transition between "worldly" and "spiritual".  The vision of the individual has progressed beyond the mere material.  Philosophy, religion, science, and art move to explore the universe itself.  Altruism on one side is the characteristics of the more evolved while the primitive desire for gain at the expense of others is the dominant struggle of the entire world.  The heat of the emotional Chakra moves upward to vivify the Heart Chakra.  Racial and tribal consciousness gives way to the realization of the Oneness of all humanity for those who can move their polarization upward.

Libra:

The inclination to share is born.  Knowledge that life is not just matter and personal gain takes root in human consciousness and the individual who perceives it begins to develop mental abilities not recognized at all by the less evolved.  Here is the forth Chakra, the Anahata, located in the area of the heart.  The unfolding of the heart Chakra initiates the ability to accelerate conscious evolution of the individual who so perceives.  This is the subject of all legitimate religions, meditation, and yoga.  With this comes the ability to sense or feel the existence of the three-fold path of energy up the spine and up the two non-physical nerves called the Ida and Pingala.  This triple so called "psychic nerve paths" is what is symbolized by the Caduceus and many other common symbols.

Scorpio:

As the individual "leaves the world" through meditation and spiritual practices, powers begin to emerge of a metaphysical nature.  These include a heightened intuition, increased emotional control, and a growing sense of Oneness with all.  Selfishness begins to subside and Altruism emerges as a natural state of mind.

With this evolution the next Chakra, the Visuddha, located at the spinal center of the throat becomes vivified.  This is the center of expression of all things and it's principle power is the power of sound.  With the activation of this Chakra, all speech begins to have a creative function.  The "Word" becomes truly a tool to create and evolved individuals begin to realize the immense importance of every thing they say.  Here words literally can create or they can kill.  Because so many people today have no knowledge of this at all, most speech is gossip and senseless expression of emotion with no thought attached.  This is "white noise" and the creative effect is chaos.  The higher evolved use their speech to explore, discover, and create.  Few are there who can use their energy in this way.  Even so, all eyes are turned to the skies as science delves into the reaches of the universe, the depths of biology, and harnessing the power of matter itself, without ever knowing that it is a metaphysical thing they do.  Those who can see do, and awareness of what is called an "Aura" surrounding every living thing becomes like a sixth sense.

Sagitarius:

As the spiritual aspirant continues their meditation, chanelling energy from  the lowest to highest energy centers in the body; when such is successful, the Ajna Chakra located between the eyebrows vivifies, the so called "Third Eye" begins to open.  With this comes the capability of abstract thought and through meditation, contacting intelligence and beings that surround us, but are incapable of being seen by anyone whose identity is polarized in the lower Chakras and mind is focused on material gain.

With this, vastly enhanced mental capabilities come and for those rare few who are fully successful, the phenomenon of "voluntary Clairvoyance".  This is NOT mind reading, seance, or any of that other essentially animistic belief, emotional projection or charlatan hustle.  It is the ability to see the lines of force between and throughout all manifestation.  No true clairvoyant is ever going to tell you what you think of where your dead grandmother is.  At this stage, transcendental consciousness is normal and the individual knows with certainty the meaning of "Oneness with all things".  They know that life is not just the short phase of one incarnation, that all the alturistic ideas are part of the inevitable evolution of consciousness.  Scriptures all take on new meanings and the "Path" is known.

Capricorn-Aquarius:

Quite beyond the comprehension of the great mass of people, the vivication of the Ajna center, when complete opens the "door" to the Thousand Petalled Lotus, the Sahasrara Chakra, located in the Etheric body, just above the physical head.  Knowledge and ability to see and work in the Etheric body are the characteristics of this stage of evolution.  It is now reasized that the physical body is only the most dense, material aspect of a seven-fold combination of vehicles gradiated from material to pure formless consciousness and that the so called "Etheric body" exists interpenetrated with the physical, but extending somewhat beyond it.  This is the beginning of the end of lives trapped in matter.
 

Aquarius-Pices:

The now "enlightened" being not only lives in a material body on Earth as is willed, but also has contact with intelligences outside the human life wave, elder brothers within our life wave, and a host of Celestial beings.  The enlightened being know that the entire universe is alive in various states of consciousness and can function in any of them that they learn to percieve.  The individual understands the meaning of such scriptural teachings such as Jesus comment that "this ye shall do and greater".  They become aware that their physical being is a universe in itself made up of an infinite number of tiny lives, each on their own path to consciousness, and to those tiny lives that live in the molecules of our body and blood WE are the God in which they "live and breathe and have their being", just like we do in the body of Christ whose abode is the Sun, which is the heart of a great Cosmic being in whom WE "live and breathe and have our being".

The consumation:
 

At this stage, the "Anthakarana", the divine "Wedding garment" is completed and the indivudual lives in a "body of light". Mary has ascended.   The controversy; Mary, mother of Jesus, who scriptures say gave birth as a virgin, to those who are mystically inclined, was an ascended master and a fully enlightened being.  To Christian fundamentalists, she was some chick chosen to deliver God to humanity.  I personally have no idea why Christian fundamentalists resist the notion of her being an enlightened being of some sort as that defies the God given characteristic of humanity called "logic".  To argue such a point is senseless as it is so far outside ordinary human awareness that such argument consists of more "white noise" and serves no other purpose than to close the mind so tight that no other possibility exists to that person.  One would think that true spiritual awareness would necessitate an open mind and accept that which can be demonstrated personally in ways other than blindly accepting the opinion of one who is called a "minister" of an organization whose leaders are not required anytihng more than a degree in theology or less.  From my experience, meditation, thinking, reason, and observation of how energy courses through our bodies and effects our mind does in absolute fact lead to "higher consciousness" by way of enhanced mental function and modes of perception beyond mere thinking.  Where that may lead is simply beyond human cognition, particularly by those whose religious beliefs are not associated with a life of treading "the Path". As I said at the beginning of this, I make no claim that any of this is "true" and have no intention of convincing anyone.  We all believe as is necessary for our particular evolution and that is as it must be. This is an interpretation of a PAINTING... that is all.
